The SOVA Innovation Hub and Longwood University have received GO Virginia funding for Regional Entrepreneurship and Innovation (REI) programs. An overview of the project is available here:

A major component of this grant is to develop and launch an entrepreneur training pipeline in GO Virginia Region 3.  This training pipeline will begin at a young age, with programs for K-12 students, and will offer robust community training programs for adults as well, building on what the Longwood SBDC already offers.

In addition to our partnership with Downtown Blackstone Business Launch, we have three upcoming opportunities we are asking you to share via email and social media. The SOVA Youth Entrepreneurship Kickoff is a virtual event for 8th-12th graders on May 5th, 3:30-5:30pm. Event details and registration are online at 

The CO.STARTERS Get Started Workshop is a three-hour, virtual training for people interested in starting their own business. This free workshop will be offered on a monthly basis, with the next one occurring on May 11th, 5:30-8:30pm. Registration is now open at

CO.STARTERS Core is a 10-week, cohort-based program that equips entrepreneurs of all kinds with the insights, relationships, and tools needed to turn business ideas into action. The first regional, virtual cohort for Southern Virginia will begin in August 2021. Applications are now open at

Individuals who are interested in completing CO.STARTERS Core are encouraged to participate in a Get Started Workshop first, to get a sense of the Core program.
